dad.jpgWELCOME MESSAGE Welcome to The Recovery Companion Blog. I am Ed Bloch. I have worked with eating disorder individuals for over 19 years. That is over 40,000 hours talking with individuals struggling in their relationship with food, their bodies, exercise, and more. In addition to my individual work with disordered eating I have also been a program director and consultant for treatment programs and was an instructor at Pepperdine University, facilitating courses on eating disorders, substance abuse, counseling theory, and counseling techniques.

I believe that many approaches to understanding and treating disordered eating, be it anorexia, bulimia, or compulsive overeating, miss the point. Far too much emphasis is placed on a pathological view of the individual's psychology rather than recognizing disordered eating behavior results from unbalanced and stuck energy with a causal point that treatment is unable to reach. It is the intent of this blog to push a dialogue that hopefully results in a greater understanding and improved paradigm for all mental and behavioral problems For this is not just about eating disorders. Eating disorders are just one manifestation of societal dysfunction.
